ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for Young Vets you must:

  • Be male

  • Be a high school sophomore at the time of your application OR 15-16 years old

  • Have demonstrated interest in playing competitive basketball

  • Have demonstrated humility, hard-work, and strong integrity

  • Have demonstrated financial need

  • Live within 100 miles of Philadelphia (PA), New York City (NY), Chicago (IL), Miami (FL), or Los Angeles (CA)

What is the Young Vets Program?

Young Vets is a six-year leadership development program that prepares high school basketball players to play competitively in college and build a lifetime of success through the sport.  

If accepted to the program, student-athletes are required to attend six-week programs in the summers after their sophomore and junior years in high school. In addition to training twice a day during the summer program, players accepted to Young Vets will learn what they need to succeed as a student and professional off the court through a variety of hands-on learning experiences. 

Upon successfully completing both summer programs, student-athletes accepted to the program will receive intensive personalized support through college and into their professional lives.

 

Where is the Young Vets Program held?

The Young Vets Program is located in northern California’s Bay Area. The 2016 summer program was held at California State East Bay & the 2017 summer program site will be announced in the spring.

 

When is the 2016 Young Vets Program?

The 2017 Young Veterans Program will run from July 3 – August 13.

 

How much does the Young Vets Program cost?

If accepted, there is no cost for attending the Young Vets Program, but participants are responsible for covering their travel to and from the program site.

 

When will I know if I got into the Young Veterans Program?

Applicants will know if they have made it to the second round of Young Vets in March 2017. The 2017 Class of Young Vets will be named in May 2017.

 

What is the deadline to apply to the Young Vets Program?

The application deadline for the Young Vets Program will be announced when the application opens in January 2017.
